Expertise 03 · Due diligence & quality assurance

Know who you are buying from, and what you are receiving.

KAELIN organises disciplined quality assurance: checks on the supplier before you commit, monitoring while goods are made, and documented inspections before they ship.

The client need

Problems discovered on arrival are expensive to resolve. By then the goods have been paid for, shipped and cleared, and the supplier is thousands of kilometres away.

Buyers need evidence earlier: that the supplier is who it says it is, that it can produce to the specification, and that the finished goods match what was agreed before they leave the factory.

What KAELIN does

We agree an inspection plan with you based on the product, its risks and your specification. We then arrange the appropriate checks, from business-document reviews and factory audits through to during-production and pre-shipment inspections, carried out by appropriate personnel.

Findings are recorded in reports with photographs. Where defects are found, we report them, follow up the corrective action agreed with the supplier and arrange re-inspection if required. Specialist testing is arranged through qualified third parties where needed.

Scope of support

What can be included, selected and combined to suit the requirement.

Before you commit

  • Manufacturer identity and business-document checks
  • Supplier capability reviews
  • Factory audits through appropriate personnel
  • Assessment of production capacity and quality procedures
  • Sample and specification verification

During production

  • Production monitoring
  • During-production inspections
  • Defect reporting and corrective-action follow-up

Before shipment

  • Pre-shipment inspections
  • Functional testing against an agreed inspection plan
  • Packaging and labelling checks
  • Loading supervision, where included in the assignment
  • Specialist testing through qualified third parties where needed

Inspection, testing and certification

These terms are often used interchangeably. They are different activities with different purposes.

  • Inspection

Checking goods, packaging or production against an agreed specification and inspection plan, and recording what was found. Inspection reduces uncertainty; it does not examine every unit or remove all risk.

  • Testing

Measuring performance or properties, either as functional checks during an inspection or through a qualified laboratory where specialist testing is needed. Not every product requires, or receives, laboratory testing.

  • Certification

Formal confirmation by an accredited or authorised body that a product, system or facility meets a defined standard. KAELIN does not issue regulatory certificates; where certification is required, we coordinate with the appropriate body.

Typical deliverables

Depending on the scope agreed, the work can produce:

  1. Supplier document review
  2. Factory audit report
  3. Agreed inspection plan
  4. Inspection reports with photographic records
  5. Defect log and corrective-action record

What helps us begin

The product and its specification, the supplier’s name and location if you already have one, order quantity, production or shipping dates and the checks you have in mind. If you are unsure which checks are needed, we will recommend a proportionate plan.
